Online Therapy

Studies show that online psychotherapy is just as effective as physical face-to-face therapy.

Don't get me wrong, I love being present in one space with the people I support, but life is busy, and it's also truly wonderful to get a chance to support people outside of Bristol, and occasionally outside of the UK.

Through my own experience supporting people in-person and online, I am getting the same therapeutic results. The only difference I have noticed is that it may take slightly longer to build therapeutic rapport, which is why I often suggest the first couple of sessions to be in person if this option is available, and then move online if it is your personal preference.

Why you may choose online therapy

  • You simply prefer the comfort of your home.

  • You have a busy work schedule.

  • You are a parent or a carer and are finding it hard to carve time for yourself.

  • You have heard about me through word-of-mouth but you don't live near my practice locations (BS3 & BS6).

  • My in-person practice days don't fit with your diary.

  • You travel a lot or live abroad.

  • You are experiencing social anxiety or agoraphobia.

  • You have a disability that makes commuting challenging.

  • You've used online therapy in the past and feel comfortable with it.

What you will need to consider

Here are the 3 questions you will want to ask yourself before booking a session online.

  • Do I have access to a private space where I won't be disturbed?

  • Is my internet connection reliable?

  • Will I be able to 'switch off' and make the most of the therapeutic process?
